Minimalistic derby shoe with unmistakeable Dr. Martens features in the thick rubber sole and matte leather finish.
This variant is named "PW" (Plain Welt) because the seam around the sole is sealed with rubber for a stealthy look as well as improved waterproofing. Like most classics from Dr. Martens this features a clean look with only 3 pairs of eyelets and as few panels as possible.
Dr. Martens patented Airwair soles have air pockets in cushioning chambers which makes it comfortable to wear, even on hard surfaces and long days pacing or standing around. The upper part is sewn on with a Goodyear welt, which makes it possible to re-sole the shoe.
1461 is named after the date it was first introduced, 1st of April, 1961. Originally intended as a sturdy work shoe, it saw increased popularity during the 70s and 80s among political activists and students.
Good quality and uncompromising materials make the 1461 a timeless classic.
